Lilibal, Irian Jaya Aniu and his friends had just run back to the village on this cold morning after killing a very poisonous snake in the mountains. They said that just touching its skin could prove deadly. They took me in back of their hut to show me several very large spiders that had spun their webs on prepared frames. The webbing is harvested and worked into a fabric that is woven into hats and bags.
