Tesin, 12
Palawan, Philippines Tesin and her husband belong to the Tau't Duram tribe and are subsistence farmers. They got married one year ago and had just finished building their house. Although her 15 year-old husband has killed a wild boar, they will have to start slash-and-burn farming in order to survive. They will be planting corn, taro, sugar cane, yams and cassava. If someone in their family dies, or if a honey bee enters their house, they will immediately abandon it and build another.
