Lothuru,12
Baragoi, Kenya Lothuru, a nomad, was grazing her camels when I met her outside the village of Baragoi. Although she is only 12, her marriage has already been arranged by her parents and will take place within a year. She told me that she has no doubt that her parents will make the right choice for her. Since circumcision is not a Turkana cultural practice, Lothuru will not be circumcised prior to her marriage.
