Dulo 12, Oita 13
Turmi, Ethiopia

Dulo and Oita were on their way to a bullah ceremony -- a rite of passage in which a male initiate must run naked four times across the backs of 30 bulls. The boys were to help steady the bulls during the ceremony. After I paid them for taking their photograph, Dulo and Oita immediately divided the money among themselves and the tribespeople around them. I’ve witnessed this generous practice among many different tribal groups. Hamar Tribe
